A Diaper Cake for a Diaper Shower

Heres Our Selection of Minis
A newborn typically goes through 10-15 diapers per day, so it's no surprise diaper showers are becoming a very popular way to honor expect mothers expecting their second (or third, or forth or oh my...). Now, you many ask what's a diaper shower? Well, instead of buying the traditional gifts like clothes, high chair, etc.. associated with a traditional baby shower, the guests focus on bringing diapers. The mom most likely has many of the daily care items from the first baby so she can use these items for the care of the newborn, hence the name diaper shower. However, if you've been invited to a diaper shower, you don't have to settle for getting the mom-to-be a package of Pampers hastily tucked inside a plastic gift bag. A diaper cake is a much more creative way to celebrate the arrival of her bundle of joy. The cake can be used to decorate for her party, then taken apart to help stock her baby's nursery. Obviously, the first consideration when buying a diaper shower gift will be your budget. A simple two tier cake is a good choice if you're strapped for cash. Check our mini diaper cakes for a simple, lower budget option. However, if you are attending the baby shower with a friend or relative, I recommend combining your funds to purchase a larger cake for the mom-to-be. A fully decorated four or five tier cake is sure to be the hit of the party! Since every diaper in the cake can be used once the baby is arrived, a large cake will provide the mom-to-be with 7-10 days worth of diapers. Just in case you don't know, diaper cakes are typically decorated with baby bottles, washcloths, pacifiers, rattles, stuffed animals, and other useful baby items featuring a particular theme. Themes for baby boys include sports, cars, and tools. Popular options for diaper shower gifts for a baby girl include cakes with hearts, ladybugs, and butterflies. If she's keeping the baby's sex a surprise, go with a gender neutral cake in a theme such as frogs, ducks, or monkeys. Diaper showers are more common among moms who plan to use disposable diapers, but this type of baby shower can also be a way to honor a cloth diapering mom. If the mom-to-be is concerned with "going green" for her baby, I would suggest taking a look at our cloth diaper cakes for a unique baby gift that's both cute and eco-friendly. As always, I welcome your feedback and would love to hear about any diaper showers you have attended.
